DIGITAL CABLE HPF-54 Instructions
Digital Filter Installation
1. Screw the filter into the "cable in" connector in the back of your digital cable box. Then connect your cable wire into the female receptor of the filter. The filter should be located between your cable wire and the digital cable box. The filter is now installed.
2. Test your filter after installation. Call your cable provider and ask what your current balance is for the month. After doing this order a PPV movie. The next day call you cable provider again and check your balance by saying you want to confirm if anyone has ordered a movie. If a charge has been posted the filter does not work. But most likely there will be no charge and the filter works.
3. Once the filter is plugged in do not remove it. Without it installed the cable company could search your system and possibly charge you for the movies.
(If you have another service
box between the wall and your digital cable box this filter probably won't
work.)
INSTALLATION
/RESETTING/ORDERING
The following procedures are
and have been verified by a lot of our customers BUT we do not guarantee if any
will work for your particular box (that’s why we offer the 30 day money back
guarantee). This is still the most complete instruction anywhere.
VERY IMPORTANT TO
READ THE BELOW PARAGRAPHS BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING: THE REAL REASONS YOU WILL BE USING
THE BELOW PROCEEDURES TO RESET YOUR BOX ARE AS FOLLOWS (AND MAKE SURE YOU READ
THE FOLLOWING BECAUSE IT SHOULD CLARIFY ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE):
INITIAL
TEST First and foremost : When
you first install the filter, only order 1 movie and go through the reset
procedures to find 1 that works for you: do the reset, check purchase history,
make sure its cleared, then remove the filter. If 1 method didn't clear it,
another will so just go through them for your specific box. (This will be the
longest period of your testing because you will need to wait about a week after
resetting and removing the filter to see if the charge shows up on your bill.)
This is why some people call it "testing" because before you use the
filter freely you have to test and find that 1 method that will ALWAYS work for
you so that you simplify things and never have to worry about it in the future.
Some people are told to never remove the filter, and then 2 months later their
box locks up, they don’t know why, and get stuck with a huge bill, hence all
the rumors that the filters don’t work and people get stuck with huge bills at
the end. You don’t have to go through that, because if a reset ends up somehow
not working for you, all you loose is the price of 1 movie instead of getting a
$300 bill.
Occasionally the cable
companies call up your box to see if it responds. They attempt to do this about
2 or 3 times before they lock it up due to no response back to them (if the
filter is on the box, the box cannot respond to the signal attempts). Your best
bet is to occasionally reset the box and remove the filter (preferably after 5
movies OR about every 2 weeks) and remove the filter
on the 3rd 17th and
the 22nd of each month. (JUST MAKE SURE THAT NO MATTER WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE DOING THE
RESET NOT TO DO IT ON THE 3 DATES THAT THE CABLE COMPANIES USE TO SEND THE
SIGNAL WHICH ARE: 3RD, 17TH, &
22nd) The filter needs to be removed (WHEN
& IF and ONLY IF you have successfully reset the box and made sure of this
by checking your box purchase history to see that everything was deleted) You
remove it so that the box is open the cable company signals as that is the only
way the box can respond to the signals-IF & WHEN the filter is OFF. There
are 2 reasons why your box may lock up: #1 If you go over your limit of
unanswered movies (which is 5 or more) #2 If your box is not responding to the
cable company signals. To eliminate both these problems just make sure you
reset the box after ordering 5 movies and remove the filter for a day or 2
after each reset.
THIS ELIMINATES ALL PROBLEMS
and this should only be done after you have already done the INITIAL TEST as
explained above.
How to
order:
Go to any regular
PPV channel and order a movie with your remote control (the filter has to be on
the box BEFORE you place that order). D not attempt to order "VIDEO IN
DEMAND"/ "PPV's IN DEMAND", AS
CURRENTLY THERE IS NOTHING AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET THAT WILL WORK FOR THOSE
CHANNELS- if you have "in demand PPV's" you
also have regular PPV channels that are toward the lower #'s like 99, 100,
etc...) As stated before the filter only works for regular PPV channels.
TRICK for
ordering if you have to phone in your order-the filter will PROBABLY not work-
BUT IF you can actually call an 800 # that is given on your screen and order
through an automated system, here is how you can order the movie (this NEW
option was just discovered):
When ordering PPV, call
the 800 number on screen to order PPV. But do not "hang up yet", when
you call that number. The system sends signal to your box to turn on that
channel. Now, here is the trick! Right when the PPV channel appears, either
unplug the box or disconnect input cable from box. Right after disconnecting,
you cancel order by pressing #9 on the phone. The reason you do this is after
you cancel your order, the system sends another signal to your box to
"turn off" that PPV channel! If the box is unplugged or disconnected,
it cannot read that signal, leaving PPV turned on! Hook your box up after 30
seconds and you can watch your movie!
RESET INTRCUTIONS: One
thing that will always help, regardless of the below reset procedures is the
following (it never hurts to do this, because it automatically clears all
memory while you are sleeping and it is relatively easy to do) (This
procedure works for SOME people, so may not work for you but you can try before
trying the more proven ones below) unplug your box
from the POWER SOURCE when you go to sleep and leave it unplugged for 24
hours(48 hours has more of a chance to work and this is because the longer the
battery is left without any power, the more chance there is that all the memory
will get deleted because there isn’t enough power to hold it there-the power
stays for a little while because of the charge, but eventually it drains out).
This should reset the memory-Now power the box back on and go through the
INTIAL TEST as explained in the beginning to make sure the reset worked. If
this procedure worked for you then great, use it always in the future and do
not bother with the below ones.)
MOST BOXES
INSTRUCTION (will work for most
boxes)
1. Unplug your power cord from
the box (NOT THE WALL!!!)
2. Wait 3-5 min... No more than 5 MIN
(very important)
3. Hold down the power and select button at the same
time and don’t let go.
4. Have someone plug the power back in… and keep
holding the power and select button.
You should see it counting down from 300+ to 0
5. Don’t let
go until it gets to 0 (it's about 5 min)
6. Once it gets to 0 then it will stop counting
down, that when you let go!!
7. Don’t touch anything, what you did is clear
the power supply bat' and that will clear the EPROM from the last time the
cable company called up to it, basically you just reset the MAC address.
8. The screen will reset and it will go blank.
Just want 5 min and wait for the clock to come back on. DONT TOUCH THE BOX
UNTIL THE CLOCK COMES BACK ON!!!!!!!
9. Now the clock is back on and NOW you can
press the power button. Go to your settings and you can see all your past PPV
was cleared, Even the pending ones!
Don’t do it on these days:
3, 17, 22 of each month. That’s when the cable company
calls up to your box. You can ask the cable company yourself, its not private
info. Well actually the resetting of it is, if they
catch you doing it they will disconnect service. Read the agreement it’s in
there.
Below are BOX SPECIFIC
instructions- Find the procedures for YOUR box- There are a few possible ones
for each box that have been compiled through research of what works for others)
PIONEER BOXES
1. Unplug the box from the back of the box.
2. Wait
for 4 minutes.
3. Plug
the box back in while holding in the power and select buttons.
4. Hold
buttons till display reads 6013
5. Unplug
box again
6. Plug
box in again and let it recycle until system restarts.
OR
1. Leave the filter attached to the terminal.
2. Press and hold the SELECT and POWER buttons on the cable box at
the same time for about 20 seconds. [Sometimes the SELECT button is located only on the remote.]
3. Next, immediately remove the POWER CORD of your cable box from the POWER SOURCE of the box (If you cannot remove from the box itself, then remove
it from the OUTLET
IN THE WALL).
4. Wait 30 seconds.
5. Finally, reconnect the power cable to wherever you
disconnected it from and wait for the box to make a “click” sound before turning it back on.
6. The box memory should now be cleared.
OR
If you look thru
the vents on top of the box (some boxes have it some don’t) there should be a
small blue “thing” (not sure what it’s called) with a button facing
forward. The “thing” should be labeled 'SW100' but possibly something else(so just look for something that looks like what’s
described). If you poke something long and skinny thru there (some use an Allen
Wrench) and press the button the box will shut down and reset itself.
OR
Unplug the power of your
digital box and hold down the ON/OFF button and the SETUP buttons and plug it
back in. Hold these two buttons down for 15 seconds after powering ON and
release.
OR
Unplug the power,
hold down the ON/OFF switch and GUIDE buttons (may be on remote) and plug it
back in. Continue holding for 15 seconds and release.
OR
Simultaneously
press VOL+, VOL- and INFO buttons on the front of your Digital Cable Box and
hold until box shuts down. Release the buttons and box will automatically
reset. Press CBL on remote to turn Box on. Menu screen will need to be reloaded
may take a few seconds/minutes.
OR
It is also possible to clear
the memory by repeatedly plugging/unplugging the cable box from the power
outlet. While at the same time, repeatedly pressing the POWER button on the box
(leaving the filter attached).
OR
One way to reset the cable box is to de-magnetize the memory. Just
get a giant magnet and drag it across the top your cable box until it “zaps”.
Scientific
Atlanta,
Jerrold & GI (General Instruments)
If your digital cable box is a Jerrold, GI (General Instruments) or Scientific Atlanta box, here
is the procedure to clear/reset the memory:
Note: If you
have a phone line plugged into the back of the box, you must unplug it and
leave it off
This procedure takes two people:
1. Keep everything
plugged in (for now)
2. Power on TV and cable box
3. Now, unplug your cable box from the electrical
outlet
4. One person must hold in the power and
guide button together for about 20 seconds.[ If you do not have the guide button-use the select button instead-
Sometimes the SELECT button is located only on the remote.]
5. Have another person plug the cable box
back into the electrical outlet while the first person holds
the power and guide button
6. Continue to hold
the power and guide button until you see the guide clear in approximately one
minute (you will see this on the TV screen)
7. Once you see the TV go "haywire"
the box has reset. Most users will experience their guides not being ready for
about an hour. Don't be alarmed, it will come back.
If
above instructions do not clear your memory use the below instructions:
OR
1. Leave the filter attached to the terminal.
2. Press and hold the SELECT and POWER buttons on the cable box at
the same time for about 20 seconds. [Sometimes the SELECT button is located only on the remote.]
3. Next, immediately remove the POWER CORD of your cable box from the POWER SOURCE of the box (If you cannot remove from the box itself, then remove

button down and plug it back in, Hold
for 15 seconds and release. After that
unplug it when you go to sleep and leave it unpluged for 12 hours.
The box should then be reset. If after the reset your box shows “0” on the LCD
display, turn of your box from the power for about 5 minutes and then turn it
back on, that should bring you back to channel 2
1. Keep everything
plugged in (for now)
2. Power on TV and cable box
3. Now, unplug your cable box from the electrical
outlet
4. One person must hold in the power and

OR
One way to reset the cable box is to de-magnetize the memory. Just
get a giant magnet and drag it across the top your cable box until it “zaps”.
Important: Please note that you must NOT
ever remove the filter from the cable box unless you have cleared the memory
first. The reason for this is simple. If you remove it from the box without
clearing the memory first then the box will automatically begin transmitting
the purchase information recorded in its memory to your cable company.
Therefore, you will be billed for every purchase in the box’s “memory”.
This is why it is extremely
important that you clear all purchase information from the box BEFORE it gets
“full”, or before removing the filter from the box.
It is recommended that you
clear the memory in your cable box every night, or once it has “memorized”
several PPV (Pay-Per-View) purchases.
RARE CASES
If for some reason you have a rare model that doesn't reset with
any of the directions above:
For this rare scenario there is only one
thing that can clear the memory and that is a magnet. A normal magnet that you
get from a hardware store will do. You will need to open the box with a
screwdriver, alan wrench, or
other appropriate tool (can be bought at radio shack) and then apply the magnet
to the box's memory chip. Look for the black memory chip and leave the magnet
on it for 5 minutes. Do this to anything resembling a memory chip.
After that you can remove the filter. If the box isn't working right,
call the cable company and tell them that your kids were messing with the box
and that it's not working right. They will reprogram it over the phone. If you
open your box and don’t see a chip but a purple battery then you should use the
below instruction. If you think you have both and are in doubt email us….
1. Unplug the box, disconnect all cables and
remove the filter.
2. Using a Jerrold or
GI tool (available at Sears or Radio Shack) simply open up the box and
disconnect the battery. Almost all the batteries inside are purple. It will do a cold reset every time
the power is cut off.
3. After you plug the box back in, the box will
say 0 and will be all the way to the right of the LCD. You have to call the
cable company and tell them your box froze. They will tell you how to cold
reset and ask you to do this. Play along and follow their lead. Once they send
the reinitialization signal and the menus and
on-screen programming are up and running with all the correct show times, put
the filter back on and enjoy all over again.
4. Please remember to always
take the filter off for reinitialization or you won't
get the PPVs. There is no need to modify the box
until the PPVs stop coming in. There are a few
systems that don't use a system for security but every cable company will
eventually! Every cable company programs their boxes differently.
IF YOUR BOX
IS LOCKED UP
INSTRUCTION #1 If your box is locked up (you
must reset before calling the Cable Company and the reset procedure is
different when the box is locked up)
If your box happens to have a problem or the
box has locked up due to incorrect installation or reset and is a Motorola, GI or Scientific Atlanta box, here is
the reset procedure that does work to reset the memory of these boxes.
1. Unplug the power of your digital box
and hold the on/off button and the setup button down and plug
it back in.
2. Hold these 2 buttons down for 15 seconds
and that will reset your box.
3. Remove the filter, call the cable
company and have them reset your box.
4. Reinstall the filter and you will be good to
go.
ALL Others:
5. Unplug the box, disconnect all cables and
remove the filter.
6. Using a Jerrold or
GI tool (available at Sears or Radio Shack) simply open up the box and disconnect
the battery. Almost all the batteries inside are purple.
It will do a cold reset every time the power is cut off.
7. After you plug the box back in, the box will
say 0 and will be all the way to the right of the LCD. You have to call the
cable company and tell them your box froze. They will tell you how to cold
reset and ask you to do this. Play along and follow their lead. Once they send
the reinitialization signal and the menus and

the filter back on and enjoy all over again.
8. Please remember to always
take the filter off for reinitialization or you won't
get the PPVs. There is no need to modify the box
until the PPVs stop coming in. There are a few
systems that don't use a system for security but every cable company will
eventually! Every cable company programs their boxes differently.
INSTRUCTION #2 IF YOUR
BOX HAS LOCKED UP
1. Starting when the box is on,
hold power and select for 20 seconds.
2. As soon as you let them go unplug
the box, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in, now
your memory is clear.
3. Take off the filter and plug cable directly
into box.
4. Call your cable company and tell them that
your guide is not showing and they will send a reset signal to your box.
First they will ask you if you have tried some stuff, tell them you have tried
everything and no guide is showing.
5. As soon as they tell you that they sent the
reset and are telling you to wait until you see the time up, put the filter
back on.
INSTRUCTION #3 IF YOUR
BOX HAS LOCKED UP
FOR
MOTOROLA DCT-2000-1 INSTRUCTIONS.
1. Unplug the box
2. Hold power
and select and while holding both
buttons, plug the box back in without letting go of the 2 buttons
3. Call the cable company and have them reset your
box.
Warning: Do not try this
method unless you want to talk to your cable operator. Your box and guide will
not work and you will have to call to reset the box and the guide. So it does reset the box, but PPV purchases remains.
CHECKING TO
SEE HOW MANY PPVs YOU ORDERED
MOTOROLA INSTRUCTION
1. Power up your digital box.
2. Power off and immediately press setup. This
will take you the diagnostics menu. Here you will see on the first item how
many PPV Purchases you have.
SCIENTIFIC ATLANTA
1. Hold down the select button
until mail led flashes.
2. Push the channel up button; you will get P-XX
where xx is number of buys.

SCAM INFO
First of all
I will like to think you for buying this product.
This product is a filter used in the
electronic industry ham radios to
help
interference. It came also for stopping certain channels on the cable
system you
know like a movie channel but you have to get a certain
frequency.
Somebody came along and found out this
could be used for the digital
cable
system. So from here you can see it is legal to own but what you use
it for can
make it illegal.
It hooks up on the in side of your box
because this side that the signal
is going
back to the company.
The way I heard and the most
easy way it seems the make sure it is
working is
to order something and call to see if it is on your bill.
The reasons way a lot of people have high
bills is because some of them
do not
follow the procedures for the device. You see the device suppose to
work on the
same frequency that the cable company uses to collect the info
for what you
order. The device stops that and this information gets stored
in the box
memory and if the filter is removed and the line is reconnected
this info
goes to the company. If the piece is removed the box should be
reseted before it’s hooked back up to the cable
line. The box has a limit of
300.00
dollars of movies it can hold when it gets to this it will not order
anymore
movies so it will have to be reset.:

What is a
DCT?
A DCT is a
Digital Communications Terminal. It is basically an addressable
Cable box
that converts digital and analog info to the NTSC broadcasting
Standard on
either channel 3 or 4. When one says it’s an addressable box you
Would have to
realize that these things have almost like an I.P. address and
They
communicate with the cable company both back and forth. Every box has a
Serial number in other words an address. When you order a PPV your
